In January
of the year 2000 the government of Ecuador started a process of
changing their currency to dollars, the sucre for US dollar.
With the replacement
of the sucre, all commercial and economic transactions are made
with US dollars. Even the Central Bank of Reserves of Ecuador
has wedged 1,5,10,25,50 cents coins.
In Quito,
Guayaquil and Cuenca the tourists could exchange without difficulties
any other currency.
Travelers
checks as credit card (especially MasterCard and Visa) are accepted
with out difficulties.
