One just
need to see the greatness of the
rivers
and the leafy foliage of the trees, to begin feeling the magic
seduction of the Orient; then, one will feel
like rubbing his eyes to double check if everything is true: the
orange clouds due to the radiance of the sun, the fragile canoes
that fight with the currents, the maddening screech of the anonymous
"hosts" of the forest.
Men that keep
the secrets discovered by their
millennial ancestors. Rural trails and turbulent rivers. Heat
and rains. Snakes, serpents, pirañas, incisive mosquitoes
in the Ecuadorian Orient, a place in which the
mother nature has gotten dressed of green to harbor the life in
the most diverse forms.
The earth
of the infinite greenery is born in the buttress' of the oriental
hillside of the Ecuadorian Andes. The climate
here is characterized by the unbearable heat and the persistent
rains -with rays and thunders - that make bigger the bed of the
mythical Amazon river.
Anthropological
and historical studies conclude
that
the Amazon forest was inhabited by the man the year 10.000 B.C.
At the present time, there are six ethnos groups in the Ecuadorian
Orient: the quichuas (predominant and related to the
people of the Andes), the shuar, achuar, huaroni (nomads), siona-secoya
and cofan.
Walks under
the shade of gigantic trees, fantastic
journeys along the rivers, among them the Napo, the longest in
the region with 855 kilometers, are part of the great adventure
that allows one to become intimate with the nature and to learn
about the wisdom of the natives. The children of the earth of
the infinite greenery.
