DAY 01 - Wednesday: Arrival to Quito Arrival, meet and transfer from the airport to the selected hotel. Overnight. DAY 02 - Thursday: Baltra - Bartolome Island Breakfast. Transfer at the airport to board your flight to Baltra. You will be received at the airport by our representative and then taken to the pier to join the Galapagos Legend. Dry landing. On this island, we will see volcanic formations including lava bombs, spatter, cinder cones, the eroded tuff cone of Pinnacle rock. During the ascent you will often see a large colony of marine iguanas, lava lizards, red mangroves, tiquilla, and various cacti all add to the experience. You will have a chance to enjoy a cool off while snorkeling. Often the travelers can see the Galapagos Penguin, Sea Turtles, and White Tipped Sharks from a safe distance. DAY 03 - Friday: Fernandina Island (Suarez Point) Isabela Island (Tagus Cove) Dry landing at Espinosa Point, you will see the largest colony of Marine Iguanas mingling with Sally-light Foot Crabs and the flightless Cormorants nesting sites, the Galapagos Penguins, Galapagos Hawks, and Sea lions. Among the flora and volcanic formations observers will note Brachycereus Cactus, "pa-hoe-hoe" lava, and other unusual lava formations. You will view recent lava flows from a safe distance. Numerous mangrove beds extend into the sea, depicting a healthy and thriving eco-system. Then, we will continue to the largest island in the Galapagos, Tagus Cove. Where you will enjoy a dry landing. You learn more about the eruption of five volcanoes that flowed together to form this land mass. The largest population of Giant Tortoises live here.(about 4000, but difficult to spot) . Time is allowed for viewing marine life from the dinghy. A view of graffiti dating back to the 1800's can help passengers better appreciate the relationship between the islands and tourism today. DAY 04 -Saturday: Santiago Island (Egas Port) - Rábida Island / Jervis Wet landing. Visit the dark sand beach at Egas Port. Most of the landscape is tuff-stone layers and lava flows, the surrounding area is prime for spotting and observing Hunting Herons, Great Blue Herons, Lava Herons, Oyster Catchers, and the Yellow Crowned Night Heron. You will enjoy the sight of Marine Iguanas grazing upon algae beds at low tide sharing space with Red Sally Light-Foot Crabs. There is a colony of Fur-Seal swimming in deep pools of cool water called "grottos". You can admire from a safe distance some Moray Eels, Hammerhead Sharks, White Tip and Galapagos Sharks, Golden and White Spotted Eagle Rays, Jacks, Wahoo, Tuna, Groupers, Red-Tailed and Dog Snappers, Sea Lions, and Sea Turtles. They live in the back drop of cold water and warm water corals, fans, and sponge. Dry landing at the dark red colored beach of volcanic origin. It has the most diversified volcanic rocks in all of the Islands . In a salt water lagoon, where we find small colonies of Flamingos feeding. At the far side of the lagoon, in te mangroves we will find some brown pelican, boobies and 9 species of Darwin 's finches. Then, we wil have an excellent opportunity for snorkeling. DAY 05 - Sunday: Santa Cruz Island (Charles Darwin Station) On another visit, you have the chance to investigate the Charles Darwin Research Station in Puerto Ayora, where international scientists conducting biological research and conservation projects. Here there are Giant Tortoises, part of the breeding program. Also you can admire the impressive Giant Prickly-Pear Cactus forest and many land birds. After this visit you have some free time to walk around town and shop for souvenirs. The trail then leads up to Dragon Hill, which offers a beautiful view of the bay. This area is a nesting site for a big number of reintroduced Land Iguanas. There is also a bizarre Scalesia tree forest. DAY 06 - MONDAY: Santa Cruz Island Wet landing at Bachas Beach which is located at north of Santa Cruz Island . In this site you will be encountered by sea lions that will be found bodysurfing, marine iguanas, sea turtles, and you would have the opportunity to swim in this white sanded beach. DAY 07: Quito and Middle of the World Breakfast. Morning guided sightseeing of the Old and New City. Starting with Guapulo church. Visit many churches like La Compania with its golden altars; San Francisco Monastery (Jesuits), the Cathedral, the Presidential Palace. Then a visit to "El Panecillo Hill" with the statue of the Virgin Mary where you can appreciate the view of the entire city. Then visit the Equatorial Monument, be sure to have your photo taken in front of it, and you can get a diploma of Latitude 0,0,0, ( your weight will be 2 kilograms less!). Afternoon at leisure. Return to your hotel. Overnight. DAY 08: Otavalo Indian Market Breakfast. Morning departure to visit Otavalo, one of the most famous markets: ponchos, wood goods, jewelry, and Indian handicrafts are sold here. Then visit in route the wood carving center of San Antonio de Ibarra. In the afternoon visit to Cotacachi famous for leather goods. Return to Quito. Overnight. DAY 09: Departure Breakfast. At appropriate time transfer to the airport/bus station to board your flight/bus. |
